Founded in Fargo, North Dakota in 2006 by Dr. Shandra Rosenfeldt, we have spent over two decades building a reputation for comprehensive, compassionate care that treats the whole person. Dr. Shandra’s sister, Dr. Ellyn Erickson, joined our dedicated team in 2023, turning our family-within-a-family dynamic into something patients notice the moment they walk in.
We are independent and family-run, and that matters more than most people realize until they experience the difference for themselves.
A Family Practice in Every Sense of the Word
Dr. Shandra Rosenfeldt opened Serenity Valley Family Dentistry with a clear mission: to connect, guide, and support every patient toward their highest level of health. A graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, she brought years of preparation and a lifelong commitment to learning to a community she was determined to serve well. Over the past 20 years, she has earned both a Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) and Diplomate status with the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, making her one of the most credentialed dental providers in the Fargo-Moorhead region.
When Dr. Ellyn Erickson joined the practice after completing her Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency, it reinforced something patients had already experienced: care here is consistent, intentional, and personal. Two dentists who trained at the same institution and share the same values create a standard of care that is rare in any market. We are not a dental service organization. There is no corporate structure behind us, no outside mandate defining how we practice. Just two sisters who believe their patients deserve better than the status quo.

- Advanced laser technology: We use the Fotona Lightwalker laser for TMJ treatment and the Solea laser for soft tissue procedures, delivering precise, minimally invasive care that reduces discomfort and recovery time
- Integrated physical therapy: Our monthly partnership with physical therapist Dr. Tom Tardif of Alexandria, Minnesota, supports a whole-body approach to jaw, sleep, and TMJ health that most dental practices cannot offer

A Whole-Body Approach to Dental Health
We have long operated on the belief that oral health and overall health are inseparable. Sleep, airway function, jaw health, and oral tissue development all connect to one another in ways that are still being uncovered by researchers and clinicians. Our sleep dentistry services address one of the most widespread and undertreated conditions in the country. According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, more than 24 million adults in the United States have obstructive sleep apnea, and 90% remain undiagnosed. For many of those patients, relief starts with a conversation in a dental office.
We also provide tethered oral tissue treatment, including tongue and lip tie releases for patients from infancy through adulthood. The connections between airway, sleep, and function often trace back to oral tissue patterns that can be addressed at any age. It is one of the reasons Dr. Rosenfeldt pursued her advanced credentials in the first place, and it remains one of the most meaningful parts of what we do.
A Clear Financial Path to the Care You Need
We are a fee-for-service practice, which means we are not contracted with dental insurance networks. What that does not mean is insurance is off the table. We often submit claims to your insurance company on your behalf so you can receive any applicable reimbursement directly. Our model allows us to provide care based entirely on what is right for your health, free from the constraints that in-network agreements often place on treatment options.
To make care as accessible as possible, we accept CareCredit and iCreditWorks financing, HSA and FSA payments, and in-house payment plans for both general and sleep dentistry services. We also offer an in-house dental membership plan for patients without insurance who are looking for a predictable, affordable option. OSA is the end stage of a disease process called Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB) which afflicts at least 80 million Americans, adults and children.
